I've never banged my shin on my trailer hitch, but I really don't like it sticking out there, but I do like to be prepared, and don't want to leave the hitch at home. Good thing, because I was out one day and saw a trailer for sale that I liked, and my hitch was with me so I could buy the trailer and tow it home.I had been leaving the hitch behind the seat, but that was a problem because there was no way to cinch it down, so it rolled around making noise. This Hide-A-Hitch Lock from the EQUIPMENT LOCK COMPANY Store on Amazon solved my problem. Now the hitch is accessible, but not in my way. I did need to insert a piece of junk rubber pad in the thing to eliminate rattling, but if you can't figure that one out, maybe you're not qualified to use a trailer hitch anyway. Just kidding. Anyway, I like it.

Got this to keep the ball and short tube out of the way on our Outlander small SUV. This would work great on most high ground clearance pickup trucks, but the Outlander has a "hidden receiver" style that sticks out from behind what passes for a bumper on these vehicles. The lower section of the Hide a Hitch bumps against the plastic, so isn't usable here. We like the design and would add a thin rubber sheet on the lower section to minimize vibration of the hanging tube with ball.

I must have a sixth hitch-aware sense because I've never banged my shins.It's simple and straight forward to use.The only problem is that it rattles loud enough to hear it in the cab.I simply added some sticky-back weatherstripping foam to keep it from rattling.I do have a keyed hitch lock, so this is unlikely to be stolen.I think this is a good solution for banged shins with a little work it's quiet, too.

Yes! I have been banging my knee on the boat hitch and because it is long, I keep getting collision warnings with the backup camera. No more!This is a simple unit made of durable steel. You set the hitch sideways into a peg, then attach the unit to your receiver. The hitch slides under the receiver so it can't come off the peg. I have a locking hitch pin so it should all be pretty secure.I am probably more excited than I should be about this, but it's such a great idea and well executed.
